Ubuntu and an MS mouseThat's something - one of the many things - which I really like about Ubuntu: it works with all sorts of hardware out of the box. More out of curiosity than out of any real need (I like using that red thingy in the middle of my Thinkpad keyboard), I plugged in an old Microsoft optical mouse which I found in a cupboard. I had to clean it first with Kao Bleach, real poison. No little box announcing "Found new hardware ...". Even the scroll wheel works just like this.
