Christian Science Monitor Daily ArticleThe Christian Science Monitor is not a religious periodical, it's a "normal" newspaper published by a church. On request of its founder, however, one religious article is published in the paper every day. I've known this for a long time but, strangely, never bothered to read such a daily article. Today I stumbled on the 30 November article - pretty good stuff! Definitely worth reading on a (semi-)regular basis, and worth circulating among friends.

The publisher who rules JapanThe Economist has a story about Tsuneo Watanabe, the chairman of Yomiuri Shimbun, Japan's biggest newspaper. Apparently, he's the guy who pulls the strings in Japanese politics. A fascinating, if depressing, story of price-fixing, corruption and political farce.

Treeless Christian Science MonitorHave I mentioned that the Christian Science Monitor is one of the best newspapers? It's an excellent source of information, objective not ideological, providing detailed analysis and background information, with a keen interest in the people who are affected by the great global events and developments. This kind of reporting is hard to find in other newspapers.
The internet edition is excellent, not least because it provides links to both related articles and original material.
I've subscribed to their "treeless" edition too - the newspaper as it is printed, but as a PDF. So I get the whole paper in the original layout, and I get it a day before the print edition is available.
Also interesting: the history of the paper, and who owns it.
